Dakar Academy Graduation Ceremony June 4, 2009

In the afternoon prior to the actual ceremony, Grads have their picture taken with their family.
During the Grad ceremony the Valedictorians speak about highlights and reminisce with their classmates of the past couple of years. At one point some Juniors read background information of each Grad while the Grad presents the mother with a rose and the father with a sash which they were wearing at the beginning of the ceremony.

The receiving line at the end was almost as long as the actual ceremony, and with many more tears as classmates were saying "Goodbye", in some cases for 2 months, in some cases for a year and in many cases forever...unless they find each other again at a future reunion...a beautiful end to Highschool and the beginning of a new adventure....

Dakar Academy- Senior Reception 2009

As per tradition, there is a reception where parents make a collage of pics of their graduating kids and displays them for classmates and staff to peruse. Some prayers are made, special mention of appreciation by the Principal etc.

Miriam wanted to challenge the public by having them take the: Mimi Trivia Challenge....the best score was 18 of 20...

JSB 2009- Junior - Senior Banquet at Meridien Hotel, DKR

The tradition is that the Junior class chooses a theme, decorates and hosts the Senior Graduating class. As parents of Miriam, a grad, we got invited this year. The theme was The Stars- it was a cool theme. Each Grad was presented as a movie star would be featured- photo ops, flashy entry, accolades and reminiscing about the talents of each...
